Jordan's participation at the Aichi Expo 2005 was one of the most memorable to date. Aligning with Aichi Expo 2005’s theme “ Nature’s Wisdom”, Jordan pavilion titled @minus400, highlighted the dead sea as its main exhibit and ranked third in popularity among all 121 countries.
For thousands of years, Jordan has been a crossroad of cultures, where connection, communication, and knowledge exchange have shaped humanity’s story, and our modern day identity. "Connecting lives" continues to define our past, present, and future— or as we like to call it "Weaving lives." Strategically located between three continents, Jordan carries the wisdom of diverse civilizations, offering valuable lessons for tomorrow.
Jordan was always a peaceful haven and a warm hearth for refugees and migrants, welcoming millions with safety and warmth. As a bridge for people’s cultures and ideas, Jordan thrives as a resilient society, open lab for growth adapting to change and new opportunities.
With one of the youngest populations in the world, Jordan's future is full of potential, rooted in the strength of the family unit as a building block for our society, fostering a nurturing and nourishing environment for upcoming generations. Each a thread that makes up our societal tapestry.
Jordan extends its threads to Japan through this Pavilion, weaving a future where the two cultures meet and interact. As an extension of the “People’s Living Lab”, Jordan invites global interaction under our main exhibition space “Jordan’s People Living Lab” to share our vision for the future, spreading our threads to Japan to connect with the world in hope of "weaving possibilities ".
Jordan pavilion is part of the Empowering lives area. However, Jordan’s message encompasses Connecting Lives and Saving lives messages.
Where Jordan and Japan meet in their deep respect for their cultural heritage and innovation, the Jordanian pavilion at Expo will be a tapestry of intergenerational collaboration.
Creatives of all ages from both nations are working together, with Jordan partnering with Japanese communities to weave for you this unique experience.
Such weaving is already taking place through Jordan’s collaboration with several Japanese communities in different villages. Carpenters and young students are joining forces to prepare the wood for the main Exhibition Hall, exemplifying the power of collective, cross-generational creativity.
The many civilizations which have traversed Jordan lands, left behind threads of their heritage like vibrant colours in a woven tapestry. Each culture, from the Nabataeans to the Romans, Ottomans, and beyond, Jordan tells a story of harmony and coexistence with other civilizations.
The pavilion highlights Jordan’s Culture through the craftsmanship of its artisans. It testifies how Jordan is a melting pot for the different cultures. Jordan aims to collaborate with Japan’s cultural practices through joint workshops and events. It also emphasises environmental - natural conservation efforts, showcasing Jordan’s commitment to protecting its very diverse natural wonders from Wadi Rum desert to the dead sea.
Jordan envisions a future built on collaboration, innovation, and sustainability. At the Osaka Expo 2025, our pavilion will foster knowledge exchange through partnerships with top universities, providing opportunities for students and researchers to shape tomorrow.
We will showcase sustainable solutions, from renewable energy to water management, for developing eco-friendly solutions for a greener tomorrow. Where Jordan is a strong advocate for global cooperation and humanitarian aid, we are inspiring visitors to imagine a future where borders are not barriers, but opportunities for connection and growth.
